“I think other dads should let their emotions show and it’s okay to be a softy. We all put on these masks for society’s acceptance. It’s time we just learn to be ourselves and raise our kids to be the same”.

– Metalidads –

METALIDADS is a support network & friendship group for ‘rock heavy metal’ loving fathers mainly based in Barry, Penarth and Cardiff in South Wales, however we aim to be a Pan-Wales organisation over the next few years.

We exist as a support bubble for dads of all ages, stages and experiences to quash the illusion of masculinity that hinders many dads during their parental journey and to get dads talking about their well-being and other topics under the umbrella of mental health and self-care. Rock and Heavy Metal music is the branded theme behind the group and is used to create a safe, informal and caring space for dads to engage with and ask difficult questions/advice on delicate topics such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, separation and many other issues.

METALIDADS is a support network and friendship group that provides a safe, informal, and caring space for fathers who love rock and heavy metal music. We are based in Barry, Penarth, and Cardiff in South Wales, but we aspire to become a Pan-Wales organization in the coming years. Our mission is to support dads of all ages, stages, and experiences and to break down the harmful stereotypes of masculinity that often hinder fathers during their parental journey. We encourage dads to talk openly about their well-being and other topics related to mental health and self-care. Our group uses rock and heavy metal music as a branded theme to create a welcoming and supportive environment where dads can engage with each other and seek advice on sensitive topics such as depression, anxiety, bereavement, separation, and other issues. We believe that by coming together and sharing our experiences, we can help each other overcome challenges and thrive as dads and individuals.
